Automatic Optical Inspection for populated circuit boards is now essential for manufacturers looking to keep productivity rates high while also coping with miniaturized components and denser circuit patterns. ALL PCBs assembled on our SMT line are inspected optically using our 3-camera Visionpoint OL-2 colour system as a standard procedure. Where possible, the AOI is also used to check PTH components/ assemblies . The Visionpoint can detect defects such as skewed or missing parts, wrong parts, misplaced or misoriented parts, incorrect polarity, solder open, solder bridges and other defects. It can handle boards of up to 400mm x 450mm.

Optical measuring system:

BTS has invested in Vision Engineering's Hawk 200 which is a non-contact measuring microscope that provides high repeatable accuracy and 3-axis measurement of complex manufactured components of all materials. This is an essential item of equipment used to measure checking characteristics and critical measurements related to statistical process control of production. Accurate measurement of complex components is achieved using the high contrast, high resolution optical image, enabling enhanced surface definition for fast and simple measurement. Critical parts can be measured with confidence.
